First Smiles!!!

Here are some other cute expressions we are loving from her.

Indian ruins hike

We took a Saturday and explored some Indian dwellings on the Knife River.  It was just a short drive away and a good chance to get out of Bismarck for the day.
Lewis and Clark visited this Indian village during their winter camp of 1804-1805.
This is a reconstruction of an earthlodge used by the Hidatsa and Mandan Indians.

Here are the kids using the meal grinder.  That long pole behind them leads down into the food storage cellar.

You can see the master bedroom and kitchen in this space.
The amazing hikers.

The river was very high and flooding the lower plateforms so we just viewed it from above.

Happy 4th of July

Watching the parade.
It was sooooooo hot.  We actually ran into the Family Dollar behind us, during the parade, and bought spray bottles to fill with water and spritz ourselves with.  It was hot, hot, hot.  Look at those red faces.

We watched the parade then went to some friend's house for a picnic.  They had rocket building and shooting at the picnic for all ages.  It was the best part of the day for a few in our family.  Then it was to the watertower hill to watch some fireworks.  We had a great view of several different firework displays.

Summer Fun with Harris Cousins

Next on our summer trip was a visit to Utah.  Here are some of our cousins having dinner with us at Robyn's house.
Robyn is queen of finding deals for everything and she found a great one for Hogle Zoo while we were there.  We were able to get into the zoo and ride the train and merry-go-round twice with all the kids for a very small amount of money.  It was a really fun (hot) day.

Jacob's brother Eph and his wife Geraldine and their three kids were visiting from California the same time we were.  They planned a picnic at the park and brought all the cousins bubble toys to play with.  It was a great way for the kids to play together and get to know their cousins they don't see very much.
In the background you can see the solar oven Luke (Jacob's other brother) built to cook his hot dogs and chicken.  He is very into being prepared and practicing his preparedness lately.

James and Tirzah catch some zzzz's together.
James is about 8 months and Tirzah is 3 months.
