Fun with Grandma Jane

Grandma Jane gives us all a tutorial on how to make an apple pie.
Zach and Mason loved helping her peel the apples.

Zach has the sock puppet on his hand from his birthday card from Nana and Grandpa.

The girls play with play dough while the boys peel apples.

The finished product is beautiful and tastes just as good too!

Blowing bubbles with Grandma before she has to go home.

I didn't expect to be so emotional.  As we sat in the room waiting to start and listening to the talks I was just overcome with joy that I was a mother and my little girl was about to take this first step on the path back to our Heavenly Father.  It was a very special evening and so many of our friends and a special neighbor (Deb) came to share it with us and mostly with Rylie.

This picture was not such a special moment.  There was this little pill who didn't realize we needed to be quick and he wouldn't hold still and smile.  I am glad we got the pictures though, everyone looks so handsome and beautiful.

I am so grateful for parents who will drive a long, long ways to share special days with us.  Rylie was thrilled to have Olivia, Nana and Grandpa with her today.  I am also grateful for the priesthood my Dad holds and that he can participate in these important events.  Thanks Nana for fixing Rylie's hair so cute.

Jacob's mom Jane was also able to come.  It was wonderful to have her with us as well.

Getting ready for the baptism

Rylie was baptized on a Friday so even thought her favorite Aunt and Nana and Grandpa were in town she and Mason had to go to school.  We did steal them from school for lunch all together at the BearScat Bakery.

Zach and Tirzah had this cute little table all to themselves, but Tirzah liked the floor better.

Rylie and Mason went back to school and we went to work making treats for the baptism.  One of these is a better helper than the other!?!  Nana make chocolate brownies and white chocolate, raspberry brownies (that would have been better if we hadn't doubled it).  Lots of other friends brought treats to share as well.  We also had hot apple cider.

More Birthday presents!

Nana and Grandpa come for Rylie's baptism the first weekend in October.  They bring birthday presents for Rylie and Zach.

Zach received a Big Boots Truck and Iron Man car.  He also loved the birthday card that came with a sock puppet.

Tirzah enjoyed the Iron Man car.

Rylie received an adorable CTR towel that Nana made and a baptism remembrance book and bracelet.  Perfect to use for her baptism the next day.

Our family also received those huge pumpkins and squash from Grandpa's garden.  The suburban was loaded with treasures from Idaho:  bottles and bottles of greens beans, huge box of potatoes, 2 huge pumpkins (one that was growing in an apple tree) and three squash and lots of love.

Zach turns 4

Birthday presents first thing in the morning!  He injured (very slightly) the side of his head the night before, thus the lovely bandaid.  Zach was given a play bow and arrow, a book (Where's My Truck?) and a few other things.

He LOVED his caterpillar birthday cake.

The missionaries came to dinner and helped us celebrate.

We love you Zach!

The circus was in town the weekend of Zach's birthday and I found free kid's tickets at the library.  It was so fun to watch.  The kid's favorite or most memorable was "Demitre the strong", he was run over by a Hummer with 10 people in it!

Trifecta

Our Bishop organized a triathlon that included a kayak instead of a swim.  Jacob did it all himself and I was part of a "team."  The kids had soccer that day as well so I couldn't stay for the whole thing.  I just did my kayaking and then left.  It was a beautiful fall day (the end of September) for North Dakota and so much fun!

I am off to the race!  The rules were very loose and the people in the canoe obviously beat us all back to the beach.  Our route was straight across and then a sort of figure 8 from one side clear to the other and back to the start.

Tirzah is hydrating for her part.

Next year I am doing the two man team!

The first one back in the first heat of kayaks

Now he off to get his bike up by the cars on the hill for the next part.
I am finally coming back, not last!

Jacob was in the second heat of kayaks.  We cheered him on his way and then left for soccer games.

The second heat was a little more serious of a line-up.

It was such a fun activity for an unexpectedly beautiful morning.
I hope our Bishop plans it again next year!
